Hi Guys,
I need to set up a printer on Windows 2K Server that will apply while it is logged off for an intranet app.
They are obviously usually defined by the user profile but without the hive loaded the job doesn't go anywhere?
Do we have to spec it in the code or can we have a printer defined for the machine?
Cheers,
Phil

I think what you need to do is, logon as a user. I Would create a new user first for this. Setup the printer as required, then you need to copy the profile (right click my computer > user profiles) to the default user profile (c:\documents and setting\default user)folder.
When you are not logged in you are infact using the "Default User" profile. You could also set screen colours and change the screensaver from the win2k logon one if you want to.

If anyone is interested, you create a profile and add the printer to it.
You then run a non-essential automatic service (e.g. clipbook viewer) using the account as logon to make sure the registry hive is loaded at startup.
Cheers!
