IIS Problem
#1
ok morning all
i have a wierd problem i have created an intranet site having loaded an older version of it on IIS all was fine..you type in the IP address and up comes the site..fine and dandy
i have a newer version now somewhere along the line a coloegue of mine deleted my old intranet page off IIS.. now using the same settings and a different IP address i have loaded the new version but it does not work!!..please find below the error code..i have checked the config of IIS..i even reverted back to the old IP Address yet still no joy!!
401.2 Unauthorized: Logon Failed due to server configuration
This error indicates that the credentials passed to the server do not match the credentials required to log on to the server. This is usually caused by not sending the proper WWW-Authenticate header field.
thank you in advance

make sure all the settings are corect:
unauthorized access, etc, default document exists,
also are you using the default website??
if not, turn it off, as only one site can connect at a time to port 80.
without actually seeing it, its difficult to diagnose.
BB
try set up a new site with an index page
give this site a different port number to 80, say 800
try and connect to this new site using http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:800
where xxx is the serevr ip address.

deefault web site was running i have since turned it off all the other settings are fine at are set up like they were before.
the only thing that i can think of that might have changed anything is the new antivurus update from Norton Virus Protect 2.
which was applied 5 days ago.(Service release 1)..i know that upon the first install IIS had to be upgraded which it was..
the deefault document also exists as does the default footer.
i will try the new index and let you know
thankyou
