If you can solder - Xecuter 2 (Lite/Pro, depends how much you want to meddle with the BIOS)
If you cant - Matrix.

However the Xecuter 2 Plus is available with a pogo pin adapter so you dont have to solder it.

I would go for the Xecuter 2 meself.

Check out http://www.xbox-scene.com

Was going to ask the same myself today!

Do I need such a dear one or do the 'cheapmod' types do the same?

Cheers,

Has anyone got one from the place linked above?
Is it safe to order from these guys...

I'm after one for mine after seeing DJ's the other week

I used to fix camcorders for soldering isn't a problem for me.
Xecture2 Pro is the one to go for then?

What else do I need to do when it's been fitted?

Get the X2 Lite, the extras on the pro arent worth it really, and the Lite's easier to set up.

Mine came from http://www.mrmodchips.co.uk/ but you need to pay either Fastpay or Nochex. I went Fastpay, as it was easier..

There is also a great tool by Slayer which is an ISO file, once written to disk and loaded in the xbox it will format the new drive for you and install EvolutionX and all of the applications that you'll ever need in one easy step, including XBMP and boXplorer.
