I dont think I'm aloud to comment on it due to NDA however it has just gone gold and theres no WAY I'm going to pay to play it However like most online games it'll only be enjoyable if you get a good base of friends to "play with". I will say however that the graphics are simply AWESOME. The screenshots on the site are INGAME shots.

SWGalaxies isn't that far away and looks soo good. I dont have that much time to play so will have to pick 1 MMORPG and there are now soo many out there / in the pipeline.

ooo "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVE-ONLINE CLIENT GOES ‘GOLD’; NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT (NDA) DROPPED TODAY! Further "

ok omg.. this game is nothing except an online mining game They really do need to balance it A LOT MORE. When I say mining I mean sat in the same place doing nowthing but watching lasers fire on your ship till ur cargo fills up and the shuttling the stuff back to a space station Any other way of trying to make money is simply wasting your time. IMHO wait for SWGalaxies or "try out for free" Anarchy Online (which looks so dated now its funny).

Thumbs up

Oh dear. I grew up on Elite, and have been wanting an "online" version to appear. By the sounds of it, this isn't it

Maybe X2 will be it ?

XBTF was good if a bit buggy. Any other similar type games due out soon?

cheers

Eve online IS MMORPG elite imho it just needs some balancing. Trading isn't that profitable compared to sitting in an asteroid field mining

I think they are making steps towards it but now I'm in a good "corperation" where theres 5 of us mining.

2 -> Killing Pirates when they respawn and clearing other asteroid belts.
2 -> Mining i.e. sat there mining
1 -> ferrying. This chap has a MASSIVE industrial ship that is huge I'll see if I can post some images of us at work.

From reading some forum stuff, eve sounds like what I'm after. Do you think that you can realistically play this game on your own (ie not in a corporation) As you can be killed now (i think) and lose much experience?

You can quite happily play on your own and the BEST feature of this game is that theres NO xp! all skills are real time based! and they "learn" while ur offline.

You can quite easyly play on your own.. trading is specifically talored to single play.. however you WILL gain a lot from join a good player run corp.

well depends who kills u but...
you do have clones.. you can "update" your clone when you like and it is based at a specific space station. This effectively "saves" your char. I think it does loose a liitle bit of skills but dont think too much. You will obviously loose your ship too. I think you may be able to get insurance later on but I've not seen it yet. However saying that I have never died. Infact I've never lost a ship.
You can eject from a ship at any time (can also be used to swap ships) and if the aggressor then attacks your pod they get a MASSIVE penalty on the security rating.

thanks for the info, hope you dont mind the questions

So....... what happens if your ship gets blown up and you've got no money left ?

The reason for these is - i dont want to be in a position where i get hammered by corporation preying on the easy meat for me to get nowhere fast.

cheers

there would be no reason for anyone to attack newbies.. and infact constant attack on one person (or hanging round one place killing newbies) is a banable offence!

however whenever you dock in your pod they game give you a brand spanking new basic ship. You can't ever sell your basic ship so dont think you can make money from that somehow

The only reason a corp would attack you would be if you had a sizeable bounty on your head (which you can place on anyone else).

I suppose you may become a target later on if you have a huge ship packed full of expensive cargo

o and I dont mind the questions I'd either be here or in the muppet show

er.. "yes" but basically atm they just boil down to bounty hunting.

They do seem to be trying to add more ways to make money.. some of the stations even seem to have casino's but dont know if that will make it into the release

Other than that there Mining, Trading (very in deapth), Bounty hunting, Refining pirate loot (ie. what the pirates drop when u kill em), Making items and mining .

almost EVERYTHING in eve can be refined back to its original minerals and then the minerals can be sold.

Making items is atually a sub game in itself.. you have to get all the minerals the "blue print" (original or copy) and the hire an industrial bay and make the items. Almost every item in the game can be made from a blue print. but read up on blueprints in their blurb on their site

HOWEVER... I've only successfully made lots of money from mining
