Hi peeps,

Im in the middle of going through and updating all the backup stuff. I have a couple of questions. Firstly, I have misplaced the license for the SQL OFA, I realise it may not back up stuff correctly, but will it damage the DB if i do a flat copy without lock ?

Secondly, is there any way to copy a "template" job serveral times, ie one for each day of the week type thing.

Many thanks

Stuart

Veritas should be able to re-issue you with the licence code once you pass security etc.

You will not be able to backup the db's that way. If you do not have the sql agent sorted yet, just set sql maintenance to back the db's up and then get backup exec to backup these files.

I never worked out template jobs, not sure if it was possible. But they work well in v9

You could stop SQL server and backup the data directory and restart it after.

I might look see at version 9 as we have 8.5 and imho it has big flaws !

The problem with shutting down the sql is these sql dbs (several across many different machines *must* come back up. Making sure 1 or 2 come up is fairly easy but there are an awful lot of them
