How do I get rid of Janita?
I keep getting a window (windows message window, not a IE pop up) from Janita looking for a Boy (+ one or two others).
How do I stop this? I remember an option in Windows setup to prevent certain messaging popups but can't remember it.
I'm no Boy anyway (I'm a man!
) so Janita is out of luck
and she can p1ss orf.

For 2000/XP:
Right click My Computer
Manage
Drill down the tree on the left to find Services
Set the Messenger service to Disabled
Note : this isn't anything to do with the MSN Messenger chat applet
Just a point:
If somebody can talk to the Messenger on your PC, then either you don't have a firewall or it's not working properly.
Time to check folks! ZoneAlarm is free.

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
Scroll down to Messenger. Click Stop first, once the service has stopped click the drop down box called "Startup type" and choose "Disabled"
You should not do this if your network relies on the administrator sending/receiving system messages, as this is the tool used.
Note that this service has absolutely nowt to do with MSN/Windows Messenger - just Microsoft makinglife difficult by duplicating names again
