Right well erm.....
Buy Simao for 8mn
Buy Kapo
Buy Scott Parker (unreal AVR)
Buy Marcos on free, start + 1
Buy Joe Cole when West Ham go down
Buy DeFoe when they go down also
Cheat in 1st season to get some cash - it saves you hours and will speed up getting rid of the dross a bit - then play fair :P
By season 3 etc start checking italian and spanish sides finances, most start going broke! Likewise i recommend a little fixing of their results - eg if real madrid do **** and look like not qualifying for champs league or getting out of stage 1 reload a few times and make it happen - helps ya massively when wanting to pinch their keeper later and they are broke
Do control alt del when game running - set priority on cpu to high

Why not just get the trainer....it'll save time.
However, the reason the CM series of footy sim is so popular is because of it's realism and in whole difficulty. Surely it is more satisfying to drag Rushden and Diamonds up the leagues by your own merits, or get your favourite Premiership team into Europe.
It is definately the best version so far, but it does seem slow. The 2D engine is great though.
As far as tactics goes, alot depends on the players you have. I always find that either 4-1-3-2 attack with short passing does well, or 5-3-2 with attacking wing backs and a big CF. One tip is to have one of your strikers or forwards drop deep to get the ball.

All the versions I have always played as Arsenal and it has never made it so easy straight off. In my first season on version 4 I won the European Champions League without adding to my squad and using very basic tactics and no cheating. Spoilt it a bit as there was no real challenge and surprised me they hadn't made it harder.
Still playing though to win every bit of trophyware possible in one season.

Wait for patch 3 it will fix some pretty **** bugs, like i want my stadium to be 70,000+.
Also its amusing to watch all the Italian and Spanish big clubs go bankrupt, even real madrid has money issues due to no mystical King of Spain to keep bailing them out ala real life
