Question

I have 2 network adapters that I no longer use:

Actiontec Gateway - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Actiontec USB 802.11b Wireless Adapter - Packet Scheduler
Miniport.

I have tried to remove these from Device Manager but I
get a message saying that they can't be removed because
they may be needed for the machine to boot. I have tried
to remove them in safe mode with the same response. I
need to remove these damn things as they are causing
problems. Any ideas how i can get rid of them?

Cheers

Marc

Question

Have you tried removing the hardware physically first?

Turn your machine off, remove the hardware, turn it on and then see if you can remove any of the drivers that are left around?

If it's just the usage of them that is causing a problem, then just removing them might do it? Shouldn't do any harm I wouldn't have though (IMHO )

Hi,

Yes the hardware was removed a few weeks ago and I have removed all original software (via Uninstall from Control Panel). So i'd think that all drivers should have gone with the uninstall. I just can't get rid of the bloody NIC's in the Device Manager. Doh!

Thanks

Marc

Lightbulb

Do they appear in the "Network Connections" Control Panel?

If so highlight and use the del key on keyboard.

Hanslow,

Thanks for your efforts mate. Still not managed to get rid of them. Found a load of registry entries for them but removing these has no affect. I'm gonna d/l a decent registry cleaner and see if that does the trick.

HHxx - nope they don't appear there.
