Yeah - boot off a floppy and run win 98 setup. Install in a different directory e.g. win98 and you will get a dual-boot system, as long as your hard drive is FAT32 and not NTFS.

Just looked on the HP site and the G55 has drivers for XP available for download. Wont these do?

It says the printer can run via parallel and usb ports.

Whats the problem?

workshy, andrew and hhxx thanx for the replies.
its my dads office/work pc which he is upgrading and the install cd for the g55 just keeps throwing up an incompatability message. he said he had checked the hp site but couldn't find anything.
obviously i sent a man to do a boys job - will have to look myself.

cheers

Yeah - you can even run the setup program in compatibility mode if it says it won't install on this version of Windows etc. Might need to copy it to disk first though.

Cool

just because the incompatibility message comes up - does'nt mean it don't work

have a old hp cd/rw - that did the same - window has an error message at the start - but the drive still works perfectly
