But isnt there a limit on all them isp's,i heard some are around 150 hours a month which is bolloxs if you are a heavy user.

The only one thats unlimited and gives you up to 5 dialing numbers is AOL £15.99 a month.

Isn't it V21 that have routing issues getting to ScoobyNet? One to avoid if you're a regular on here

I looked the other day and I've been on BT OpenWorlds 'unmetered' dial-up for two years now. Bar the odd bit of down time it's worked pretty well on my ISDN router.

aviod FAST4 at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

although only 7 quid a month all day, i think they must have blacklissted me after 2 months without telling me.
Connection became only possible 5% of the time

Also they have a stupid policy of where u have to give 1 month notice when you cancel

Im with freeserve on 7 pound a month for 3 months
Preety slow and dont like the 2 hour cutoff, but at leat I can connect evbery time

oh bugger - thought it would be since thats what they did with the 512 to 600 soz.

Yup - AFAIK thats not changing as thats what we have at home, add a fiver to that 24.99 and you get xbox live access too which you can use same time as broadband - they basically allocate 2 IP's to your house

The problem with NTL is the huge debt they have,....i have a feeling regular price rises could become a common feature.

well if you check out the share prices of these cable co's i think you wouldnt want to put any money on them! (ie Telewest is less than 3p per share )
Also 128k isnt broadband, its narrowband
(ntl for you, they know sod all )

Cool

"Demon Anytime"???

Do ya mean Premier Connect with SurfTime??

For some reason, BT don't seem to be promoting SurfTime a lot these days - maybe because it is such a bargain!

mb

Ts&Cs

SurfTime > Terms & Conditions

SurfTime does not include access to the Internet. Access via a participating Internet Service Provider on a SurfTime 084404 number is required. ISPs will make an additional charge for their services which might be included on the BT bill. The ISP's terms and conditions and any online session restrictions will also apply.

BT reserves the right to withdraw service from users whose use of the service risks degradation of service levels for other users and/or puts BT's Network at risk.

Evenings are weekdays from 6pm until 8am. Weekends are from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

SurfTime will not be available using a BT Chargecard or Ring Me Free.

SurfTime packages will not be available to customers with certain lines such as Light User Scheme lines, SupportLine, Outgoing Calls Barred lines, BT In-Contact lines, Lines not provided by BT, Service Provider Calls & Access lines and Temporary lines.

Not all ISPs will permit access to the 0844 04 number outside of package times and may provide alternative dial up numbers for which differing call charge rates will apply. Customer should check with their chosen ISP.

If a customer who does not subscribe to a SurfTime package makes a call to a SurfTime number (beginning 0844 04), the call will be charged at 1p per minute for daytime calls, 0.6p per minute for evening calls and 0.5p per minute for weekend calls inclusive of VAT. Minimum 5p (inc. VAT) call charge applies. Not all ISPs support all SurfTime packages.

SurfTime number ranges are not eligible for Friends & Family and Best-Friend.

SurfTime charges will appear on BT's blue bill and billing frequency will be in line with a customer's existing billing cycle (monthly or quarterly).

Cool

for 56k service
try tesco.net or virgin.net at 13 pound a month
or you could try a months free trail at tiscali

forget freeserve as although big they can be slow, mainly due to too many members
avoid any v21 isp like the plague (they go under other names such as fast4)

Boom

Thats what I mean...

So, other than the "package" I've got with BT & the "Premier" bit with Demon, will I get cut-off after 150 hrs? Or face additional charges?

Puff,

as BT don't specifically say "keep it below 150hrs", i doubt whether they could chuck you off for going over that. However, if you take the mick, and keep "always on" during your free periods, i am sure that they (as well as you ISP) might complain.
