Question

Anyone know of any software to convert MP3 (mpeg 1) to AAC (mpeg 2)?

Fraid so, technically MP3 -> AAC conversion is an 'attempted' upgrade in quality so its not really going to be of benefit. Normally it would be a WAV rip to AAC for equal quality.

I have a feeling CDex does (or did) MP3 to AAC too but haven't got it on this PC to check.

As I see it (everyone correct me if I'm wrong), AAC takes up less space than MP3 for the same quality.

I have a couple of gigs worth of MP3s that I want to convert to play on my new MP3/AAC player (it's only 128megs, so I'm thinking that I'll get more AACs than MP3s on it)

You're right it will be the same, I didn't explain very well. MP3 with already degraded quality will only equal AAC with same quality, which could be better if you rip straight to AAC. Probably still talking gibberish

You may be able to get hold of the AAC plug-in on Peer2Peer, or perhaps pay for it Sorry, that was a silly idea
