Question

I've got the BT ISDN box with the modem installed - USB cable from the box to the PC. The box also has 2 RJ45 connections, anyone know if these work?
Assuming they are live, the other problem is that the BT software is USB only - anyone know how I can get around this without resorting to the obvious USB route (cable run is quite long)

Kevin.

They work, but they're not network sockets - they're ISDN sockets. You need as ISDN adapter to use them.

If you are happy opening up your PC, then something like the Asus ISDN PCI TA will do just the job. £25 inc VAT so a good price too. You can get ISDN TAs that connect on USB but these will be circa £50 or more (without looking).

Then you can use a CAT5 cable from the TA to the HH box. I use a 10m cable to link my ISDN Router to my HH box but you can go longer if required.

CAT5 will be much cheaper than stringing USB cables together.

HTH,

Chris.

With regards to the software:-

When you are using the USB port, the software is there to act as the drivers for the in-built USB-ISDN terminal adaptor. If you do as Chris suggests and buy an Ineternal PCI TA that talks directly to the Blue ISDN ports via Cat5 - the TA will come with its own driver software&utilities - which replaces the BT software.

Cool

Thanks guys - PCI ISDN adapter it is. I've already run the cat5 cabling so I'm almost done.
