I in the process of getting my BB setup and need to know a few things I know I need a router but can I do all this wireless. I just don't want to run a cable from bedroom to livingroom the Xbox has a phone socket next to it so could I use a second modem or a wireless LAN ?

I don't think you can to be honest. The fact the ethernet is built into the xbox and isn't a wireless piece of hardware prevents this.

Ok, if you have no home networking hardware other than your cable/dsl modem then you're going to need a wireless router/access point. This will be connected to your broadband modem and will serve as the "base station" for your wireless network. The 'Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless 4-Port Cable/DSL Router' is a good choice for this job since it acts as a wireless access point and a wired hub.
Now you need a way to get your XBox to connect to the wireless network. Unfortunately, the XBox only accepts wired Ethernet connections. However, the 'Linksys WET11 802.11b Wireless Ethernet Workgroup Bridge' solves this problem. This product acts as a wireless "bridge" that essentially extends a wired network over a wireless connection. The bridge connects to your wireless access point and has an wired Ethernet connection to which you can attach whatever you want -- in this case, you simply run a cable to your XBox and you're up and running.

That's exactly what I do RB5-Black.....
I have a BEFW11S4 upstairs, that I use as a wired hub and wireless-access-point, and the Xbox is downstairs on a small switch (with a Tivo) connected to a WET11. Broadband access goes through a fire-wall PC at present but may change to the BEFW11S4 at some point if I can be bothered.
The WET11 is a 100% Microsoft endorsed and supported method of access - and works well with XBCONNECT, if you use that.
Go for it....

RB5-Black, I had Blueyonder Cable broadband - and therefore have a Motorola Surfboard which they supply. Presents ethernet on cat5.
The BEF thing supports 10/100 ethernet rj45 cat5 only.
Om the back there are 4 'hub' 10/100 ports (plus a 5th for an uplink, but that replaces port 4 of the 4), and a WAN port (10/100 I guess, RJ45 cat5 ethernet certainly). I currently use just 3 of the 4, plus the uplink - not the WAN due to the fact that I use it 'internally'.
If you want to know any more, just ask. Though if you do want one that is also an ADSL modem, I think DLINK do some good ones that a colleague of mine recently bought - everything the BEF is, plus ADSL modem.

I think I've worked out my plan of action
Firstly I needed a modem with Ethernet port, I'm going forThe D-link Dsl-300G+
Next I need a router with wireless AP so the best option for me looks like the Linksys Befw11s4 wireless AP DSL router to connect my Xbox was a simple option of only one or two probucts but the Linksys wet11 wireless ethernet bridge looked like a good buy and for dessert to keep the cables down to a min I'm going for a wireless PCI card for my pc
any thoughts let me know, this is just a wish list for the moment but that may change very soon.
Craig.

Don't do it The Linksys Cable/DSL routers don't work with the D-Link Ethernet ADSL modem or any other Ethernet ADSL modem due to DHCP spoofing issues
FYI - You can mix and match your wireless equipment if need be. Apart from wanting xbox wireless what else is your requirement? Wireless PCI cards can suffer bad interferance from the PC case therefore they are not advised if the PC has to penetrate several walls especially if they are interior brick walls.

What about this thing:
http://www.dlink.co.uk/long_desc.asp?id=384
It may work with a WET11, though it also may not
Worth a try.......

D-Link do the DWL-810 Ethernet wireless Bridge based on old 11Mpbs 802.11b technology. IMO its not as good as the WET11 for connectivity.
However D-Link are planning on releasing the DWL-810+ within weeks. This uses the 22Mbps Airplus technology
