MP3 Ripping & Tagging
Suggestions please...
I've now got my new head unit & CD Changer in my car. Both will play MP3 'data' discs, so one CD takes at least five double albums
For normal albums it's great - more music than you can shake a stick at. It does fall down a little bit on mixed albums as there's a 2 or 3 second gap between tracks.
I did think about merging the MP3 files together using a DOS copy command (copy 1.mp3 + 2.mp3 3.mp3 /b) but testing this morning shows two 6MB MP3s end up as a 32Kb file
I'm wondering if there's any way to get a rip of the mixed album which is correctly tagged up on a per track basis but without the gaps? Can you have a single MP3 file with tracks marked (and hence multiple tags)?
Chris.

AFAIK there is no way to do that. If they are seperate files then each one has to be analysed by the player before it plays it causing a slight pause.
The best way to do mixed CD's is to rip to one large file although you then obviously lose your track markers.

I was looking for a program that would combine MP3s into one big file too .. no joy so far
For the ID3 tags I use ID3-TagIt - it's free, and once you get used to it you can rename the files and tags pretty quickly.
