Belkin USB/PS2 KVM switch
#1
I'm looking into sharing a laptop that doesn't have PS/2 connectors (only USB2) and a desktop that does have PS/2 connectors.
So using something like this:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_ID=122146
could I connect the laptop to the KVM using USB, connect the desktop using PS/2 then plug the PS/2 keyboard and mouse into the switch and have it work with both systems?
cheers,
greg

That's exactly what I am using now Greg. I opted for the 4 port version though.
The laptop (that I'm typing this on) is conencted via USB to the KVM, one of my home PCs is connected via PS/2 connections - and the keyboard/mouse that I use are wireless and connected to the KVM using PS/2.
It works very well - not cheap - but works well.

IIRC mine came from Dabs... but bear in mind it doesn't come with any cables, so you need to spend a good chunk of cash on connecting cables. I didn't get these from dabs as they were significantly more expensive than other places. I can't for the life of me remember where I sourced the audio, ps/2, USB and VGA cables from though - it was somewhere that only did cables I think...
Just search round the usual sites, it's all I did.

I recently bought a 2 port Belkin KVM switch with all the cables included (good quality ones) and no external power supply needed from a company called G squared in Reading Berks for £64 (4 port £79), I beleive they do deliver.
sorry don't know how to do a clicky : http://www.gsquared.net/
