Can u run full duplex ethernet on a 2501 via the AUI port? I say no due to hardware restrictions on the AUI port and transceiver. Others say upgrading the IOS allows you to run Full Duplex.

Anyone care to comment? Decent URL links would be handy!

I haven't seen any hint of being able to run full-duplex on the old 10 meg interfaces. far more likely to be a limit in the ethernet chipset than just IOS.

Had a poke round cco and I cant find anything...

2501 now end-of-sale

Product Bulletin No. 1564

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End-of-Sale Announcement
for Cisco 2501 and 2514 Routers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last day to order Cisco 2501 and 2514 routers will be April 30, 2002.
October 31, 2001

**************
Please note: This product bulletin does not affect the Cisco 2509 and 2511 routers.

The Cisco 2501 and 2514 Series routers have enjoyed a long and successful history since their introduction in 1993. As customer requirements for higher performance, advanced security, and multiservice applications have increased, the demand for feature-rich routers has increased as well. Although the Cisco 2501 and 2514 routers deliver reliability and stability, they do not offer the New World services that are essential for customers to fully participate in today's business environment. Therefore, the end of sale (EOS) for these routers will be April 30, 2002.

The following product numbers will not be orderable after April 30, 2002:

New IOS images are too big for the 2501 anyway so I cant see them having that sort of feature added. 12.2 images are definately End of Engineering for them so will only be maintenance releases in future.

In short - I think its bollox
