In dear old Win98/ME there was a prog/util called Net Watch (I think) which told me who had shares/files open on my PC. If I tried to reboot or shutdown the machine it would warn me that xx users were connected and nn users had files open. I could then use this prog to find out who and what. Does XP Pro have a similar feature?

if you feel like delving a bit further, you could just run MMC, console, add snap-in and select shared folders, whatever shares you want to view... and then save this console as my shares or something and then create a shortcut to it....

In XP (and 2000), open a CMD prompt and type netstat. The most useful command is netstat -a - will tell you details of every connection and what state it's in.

Also, use the command net session to see links to other systems. Sessions are terminated with the /delete switch.
