When ever i click on a link that should open another window the window opens but is empty i have heard that there is a patch or something i can insatll to rectify this.
So can any of you IT guru's help me out?

have you been changing the settins in IE ? have you tried restoring to defaults ? there is a setting in the advanced tab to reuse same window for hyper links, try ticking and removing tick.
