It should be fairly easy, but I must admit taking coolers off CPUs is my least favourite part of messing about with PCs. Basically, you usually need a fairly thin flatblade screwdriver. You have to unhook the fan from the base, so press down then out.
I use Coolermaster heatsinks, and these have a much easier release mechanism (not requiring a screwdriver).

think i trashed me board finally got the cooler unhooked from the board put new cooler on, computer boots but the monitor doesnt respond tried a few diferent things but nothing, putback to normal then returned to shop fron which i purchased all the bits less than 2 months ago and will wait and see whats going to be replaced. as like i told them "i dont know why it wont work it just went off"
