playing avi files?

need help.

trying to play an avi files using win media player and it doesnt work.

using win xp although that probably doesnt matter.

can someone tell me how I can get these things to play (smallville).

I can hear the sound but all I can see is swirly graphics.

think you have to have a divx player on the pc, i have divx 5.02 pro bundle which can be downloaded from most dvd backup sites

Download the latest DIVX files mainly being 4.02 + get yourself the Nimo codec pack. that'll sort yuou out.

The Nimo codec pack also includes the xvid codecs that you may also need
