Am I likely to encounter any probs upgrading from ME to XP. Don't want to do a fresh install due to loss of data.

Thanks in adv.

Would definitely back up data and go for the clean install. Well worth it in the long run. If you choose the upgrade, chances are you'll want to do another install within a few days.

Thanks guys, one other concern is that I've probably forgotten lots of passwords as Windows has remembered them for me. Haven't a clue what my Scoobynet one is even, any way round this?

I'd go for a fresh install after exporting all your bookmarks and emails and personnal data, into a folder together, that you can remember the name of!! Just add a bigger hard disk, they are so cheap. Install XP onto the new hard disk, and copy all important files after. Run the two disks for a few weeks together, as you can always boot from ME if it all goes **** up!! And there's no pressure if you forget something. Nothing worse than doing a format and remembering you had some files, or pictures that you've deleted rushing the job.

As for the scoobnet passcode, email Simon DB or one of the mods Hope this helps, but I've had a few thorns

Cheers babber

Sounds like the safest solution.

A fresh install is always best. But if you are going to have major problems moving data etc, then when you upgrade (using the XP CD) it actually has a part of the install which tells you of possible issue's.

Thumbs up

Buy yourself one of those USB storage devices; 32, 64, 128, 256Mb and copy anything across.
Superb invention and so easy.
