They fulfil a need TBH.

When you have to go & buy some small component or program or whatever & can't wait until the courier arrives tomorrow - off you go...

Too right Puff - they saved my *** a couple of times when you need an RS-232 gender changer or something urgently.

Cool

Guess they are a bit like B&Q then in that respect, sell overpriced junk to clueless idiots but when you urgently need something at 7:30 at night where else are you going to go?

My CRT monitor responded well to a good thump on the top... for a while. Ordering from the internet is difficult without a monitor which lead me to PC World.

It's Cack because all fonts have a bold look about them. It doesn't seem to do thin lines very well.

Ah whatever, it was cheap and I plan on making the switch some time this year at which point it'll be redundant.

At work right now looking into a iiyama vision master 17", great quality and price.

Exclamation

There are a few options available. It depends what sort of resolution you want and whether your graphics card can cope with it.

I've seen 17" flat panels with the these resolutions:

1024 * 768
1280 * 1024
1600 * 1200

And obviously you have to run at the specified resolution in order to obtain the best picture.

Personally I would get a 1280 * 1024, as that's what I run on my current 21" monitor!

Just took delivery of an Eizo L565 (in black).

Seems to do the job quite nicely.

Used WWW.KINGMAKER.CO.UK for the first time - cheaper than DABS and for this one and only order they provided excellent service.

Decision to buy this model was swayed by www.pcpro.co.uk reviews section (see under A-list and archives sections).

regards, Mark.

I was helping a friend the other day who bought a PC from Dixons. His came with their bog standard TFT and I have to say I've never seen such a bad quality display ever!

Now EIZO TFT's - now you're talking. I'm still trying to persuade myself to get one of their 18" jobs.

Cheers Andy, I upped my resolution to 1280 * 1024 and it's now pretty bloody good! I retract my previous statements.
