Question

OK,

We have two physically seperate networks here @ work. I need to manage both and up until now I had two PC's for the job.

I've now treated myself to a new Dell PC which has two network cards. I've configured them for the two individual networks, but I want to make sure that my PC isn't acting as a router between the two network segments.

Is routing enabled by default under XP Pro with 2 NIC's? or would I need to do something to turn it on.

Stefan

Have you got seperate gateways for each one ? You may want to try removing the gateway from one and put in some persistent routes for use on the other network and remove the gateway from that

eg.
route add -p 192.168.1.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 212.58.96.1

when asking to connect to 192.168.1.* addresses it will go through the network card that is set up on the 212.58.96.1 gateway.

Just need to work out what you need to access on each network, suggest setting this up on the network not used as much.

Drop this in the startup group and it will add them each time you logon.

Hope this is what you were looking for.
