When online, i get a a message coming up, stating that i have "ignored an incoming call" it then proceeds to cut my connection. I have had a look in the options, and can't see anything to turn it off.
Any ideas ?

Sounds like what Ken E said, call waiting, I would guess XP is understanding it happened, but since it makes noise on the line the connection get's lost.
Easily disabled in XP, there should be a number to dial to disable it, then in the General tab of the connection's properties tick 'user dialing rules', then click the 'dialing rules' button, then click 'edit' on the location that's being used, then tick 'to disable call waiting, dial' and put the number (or whatever) in the box to the right of that.
