Question

Anyone know what this is or does? As soon as I start W2kpro it eats all the memory and swap file. Since it started I can't use or uninstall MSDE or any SQL related apps. I can't access the web or mail servers, but my ip stack seems ok as I can ping outside addresses.

Looks like a virus but I have tried a few virus checkers any they tell me all is fine

Any suggestions?

p.s. - I am also getting WMI ADAP errors loading perfproc.dll and winspool.drv in the event log - not sure if this is related or something I've broken trying to fix the other problems

http://tinyurl.com/4jys - links to Google Groups btw.

If you get stuff like:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 37
Date: 16/01/2003
Time: 17:55:42
User: N/A
Computer: CHRIS
Description:
WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;266416 is a good starting point.

Thumbs up

Cheers big ears - I've been out of the IT stuff for less than a year and I've already forgotten what that stuff means, but it seems to have worked.

btw - servwin does seem to be at the very least something completely useless. deleting the exe fixed most of the problems
