Getting fed up of trying to spec and build a new PC. I know Alienware have a good reputation in the US, but anyone bought from them?

apart from the laptops, how much could you build a similar spec PC for with some shopping around - roughly?

There Koolmaxx system isn't too difficult to replicate, though you could get a relatively cheap system that would match what they have for around £1200 ie Advent 3.0, with 120 gig, and upgrade the card to a G4 ti 4600 (or whatever you choose).

There systems cost c1700, though you can customise them to be cheaper or dearer, the paint is a gimmick though looks super cool, and the other logos are more pose value than practical.

They do use ood components but like I say shop around and you can have an excellent gaming platform WITH BUSINESS USE.

On laptops another friend has a Microstar with a 64ddr ram graphics card (cant remember if its a G4 460 go or Ati version -- think its the first)

Paid £1000 from PC world and apart from the covers the gaming experience is the same (1000 vs 2499) and the Microstar came with various MS works programs

No contest there really!!!!

Can get even better cases and painted keyboards and build ur own system for like 500 quid less, even with small 50 quid or so levy on case for the kewl factor leaves ya 450 notes better off

<<< Ex alien ware customer who built his own case for 400 notes less and it looks better

So can someone spec me a PC with

3.06Ghz p4
1Gb RDRAM 1066
Proper cooling
Top Spec Motherboard ASUS CTX540E-C (something like that anyway)
Radeon 9700 pro
80Gb HD
Cool looking case
KB
Decent mouse.
Soundblaster Audigy 2

The cheapest i've come up with is £1900 quid which is only 130 quid less than an Alienware system and I know it'll work if they put it together

My local computer place could do this, though you must have someone local to you via yellow pages that can build this for you....

Martin (friend) who builds PC's is away for 2 weeks holiday he could do it but I'd have to get a price for you....

Proper cooling, in some cases yo can have upto 6 fans though Martin above has some watercooled trick bits, though not sure I'd want to run water through a pc...........

It keeps it cool, and he keeps rambling on about latent heat temps being v low, sounds like a cossie boy to me.....

£1900 is alot to spend on a PC.

Do you really need that much power??

Why not run a 2.8. Pick them up for £230on ebay. increase the fsb to 150mhz(which isnt alot 13 on standard) and youve got a
21*150 = 3150Mhz, and for £250 cheaper.

Si
