I have just installed Paintshop Pro and when I try to retouch an image it tells me that I cant as I don't have 24bit colour? The colour spectrum on the right is in blocks as well and not like before.

I have tried to change the colours in the control panel but it only gives me the options of 16 or 256 colour settings.

Anyone tell me how to do this?

Cheers in advance.

Sounds like yor graphics card has not been set up correctly, you need to update the drivers, or perhaps it is too low spec for PSP.

Try updating the drivers to the latest one available from the graphics card manufacturers website.

Cheers Fig but it is a work machine and I have no idea on the make.

I recently had a new monitor and it worked before.

I deleted PSP and have just re-installed it when this happened. It is un-usable like it is.

How (Without taking it apart) do I determine what card is in it?

Cheers again.

Don't go opening the cover yet !!!

You probably have opened an image that isn't 24bit. This means the image probabyl only has 256 colours so needs have it's colour depth increased before you can retouch it.

On PSP7 you go to Colours | Increase Colour Depth | select 16 M colours/24 bit. Then you should be able to retouch.

Cheers

Ian
