Playstation2 Title "The Getaway" - BT forces them to cut scenes!

Apparently there's a scene in the game where there's a character dressed up as a BT Engineer with Van.
BT have seen it and deemed it far too violent. Something about a car (van) chase and posing as said engineer so's to get inside a police station and get a weapon ?
Apparently the makers never asked for permission.
Personally, I'm finding The Getaway hard work - the control system is farcical at times.

agree Daz with the controls.
Its so hard work trying to control the guy,i think they have put too much into the story and graphics and have not thought about the controls. The controls seem to be slapped together,i wonder if they rushed it so that it would be out in time for crimbo.
It gets a thumbs down from me!

just finished it very good game, storyline riveting, control system awkward, but with paticence and co ordination rewarding, especially the no look shoot around corners some glitches but no harder to play than Max Payne which it is the london version of, driving sequences difficult londons streets full of traffic cant really enjoy the faster cars with out wrapping them around lampposts or other vehicles but the speed and sounds are pretty accurate, but they are copied well the best I've seen bar Grand turs, so don't give up its well worth playing I did it with out a walkthrough and the hardest bit was was trying to spot and tail a car leaving a police station which in gta vc would have a great arrow above it saying I'm here wheras in the getaway it was part luck and whatching the vehicles in front of you.....

I agree it does have a magnetic quality - its just a shame a good game is let down by a lack of a good control system.
I'll probably keep at it from time to time. At present I'm on a mission to tail a prison van from the courts. First time I played it, I totally missed it - will have my eyes peeled next time!

I love the game and am stuck on the 'BT scene' at the moment - I've picked up the BT van, totalled the real BT van and am attacking the police station with stolen firearms whilst dressed as a BT engineer
Violent? Moi?? Nahhhh

I've just finished the 'BT' mission. Thank God. Must have taken about 50 attempts. I kept getting randomly spotted whilst trying to follow the detective downstairs.
BTW - don't bother wasting ammo on McCormack until he reachs the interview room - thats the only place you can kill him. I must have put about 100 rounds into him and he was still walking down the bleedin stairs!
Good game - but not up there with VC in my opinion.

It said on El Reg that the scene has been deleted in new copies of the game. Does that mean there's one less mission to complete, or have they just anonymized the engineer and van? If they've deleted it entirely, then that's a bit crap IMHO

Great game but agree that the controls are a bit dodgy. Annoying when you hit button to hide against wall and he rolls into enemy instead!
It seems strange that they didn't get approval to use the BT brand...but BT sucks anyway

[qoute]Surely any publicity is good publicity?[/qoute]
LOL.
If you're "Tara Palmer Need-to-be-on-TV Tomkinson", then maybe . I think Public companies tend to take a different view of which publicity they encourage and which they discourage.
Maybe the un-altered versions will be worth extra in a few years time

The point I was trying to make is that if it was a Bond film or something, companies would be clambering over each other for product placement. Just look at the war between BMW and Aston Martin the last few years.
It's a shame they have nothing better to do with their time, bunch of loozers!

ROFLMAO.
BMW spent millions chhosing exactly whcih car and how it was featured in each film and controlled many aspects of how its cars were presented.
All big compnaies have advertising/PR departments that attempt to control how and where the compnay is publisiced and how the logos/trademarks etc are portrayed. I dont think BT are unique in that respect .

Having played GTA3 on PC then got GTA:VC for PS2, I wish I'd got it on PC, the controls while walking/shooting are crap.

Actually if BT get their way on this I can see the game being withdrawn for good.
There are simply hundreds of company names dotted around the game. All the shop fronts, cars etc etc.
It's very accurate though. I managed to drive up Oxford Street and knock down the copper who gave me a dirty look last Saturday!

Luke, there are no traffic wardens in GTA:Vice City, but plenty of cops and stuff.
I hope this will satisfy your requirements :-)
