Have you tried running the setup program on the driver disk to force the drivers to be installed? It's not clear in your post if you've tried this or not.

Are you using the old, original driver cd?

If so, download the Detonator drivers from Nvidia. A universal download depending on your OS, which covers pretty well all desktop-based Nvidia cards made to date.

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_41.09 for the 2k/xp driver

http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_41.09 for the 9x/me driver.

This driver takes care of any tv-out features too

Cheers,

Nick

Question

right......... what is the exact make and model of the card? Preferrably the exact model printed on the card itself. If even using the det installer it says that, then you don't have a card or your have a major software/hardware/compatability fubar issue.

Are you on xp? The reason that I am asking is that the universal driver is fairly good, so can adjust the res in a lot of cases. What driver is it curently using?

Cheers,

Nick.

Have you had a nvidia card before, and have some older drivers installed?

I once had a problem with my computer getting confused with the abit drivers for my GF3 and the nvdia detonator drivers. Ended up having to delete the abit drivers and remove references to them from the registry.

Running WinMe, you may have got it, the previous card was also a Nvidia card, so might get rid of all drivers or even clean ME install tomorrow, cheers

Oh also have WIN98se installed also and same as on that.

do a search for a software program

detdest

detonator destroyer, use the add remove programs feature then before you hit re-boot run this and it will clear out all old detonator driver thus you have a clean install for your card without having to re-install ME

jase

email if proggy needed
