When my mate is playing some games his PC suddenly freezes and gets a loud continous(sp) beep, Its getting very annoying because we cant figure out what the problem is

we think its the sound card but were not sure, other things we have thought is, it could be either the motherboard or Soundcard we have checked the USB and that doesnt seem to be the problem

his system is

Motherboard :- QDI Legend kinetis socket A board
Soundcard :- Soundblaster Live 5.1
AMD 1.4 thunderbird
Geforce 4 ti4400 (*******)
RAM :- 256 SDRAM 133
Running dual boot win 98SE & XP
Also all the latest patches and updates for the Motherboard etc

Gaming problems are usually horrible to solve.IMHO
Which game(s) does it do it on.
Which OS are u gaming on.
What size is the HDU, how much free space do u have.
Some games can cache unbeleivable ammount of Hard disk space.
If u think its sound card disable it & try again.
Look on a website for the motherboard & associated problems.
sorry cant help much.

you may also want to check that the beeping is not a temprature alert - go into bios and see how hot things are getting !

If it's 3d games, could be the video card overheating & locking things up.

Had a look at my mates PC last night I even swapped the sound card into a different slot to see if that would help but it didnt

The Temp is fine ive even updated the fans (to nice big Blue ones ) so the PC is a lot cooler than when it was built.

Most of the games are run on 98Se it mostly crashed when playing MS Combat Simulator 3 and BF1942, but not on any other 3D demanding games like IL-2 etc.
