Mine 49 seconds , from Shoreside Vale to Staunton Island and flying around a bit on the airfield (PC).
What is the longest anyone else has got, be it PC or PS2?

Scooby Snax,
If you go form Portland Island over to Staunton Island via the bridge. Then find the bridge from Staunton Island over to Shoreside Vale. (Can't remember where it is at the moment as I am at work and don't have the map)
When you come off the bridge, take the first left after the traffic lights. Go down the slope and go straight ahead.
Don't go around the bend! Keep following the path and break through the barrier. Drive all the way across the airfield
diagonally and you should see a police building. On the other side of the building is a small red plane with a stupidly small wing span, that's the Do Do Enter as usual and your away
Paul,
It took me a while to work out. Are you using a PS2 or a PC? It is possible in both. Let me know which one you are using and I'll post the instructions here.

Paul,
I am not 100% sure on these instructions, as I don’t have a PS2 so they might be wrong. If they are wrong just try a few different things and you should get into the air.
Once you are in the dodo, get a bloody big run up and point the plane towards the runway.
Press X to start the plane going and hold down on the D pad. After a couple of seconds sparks should start coming from the nose cone, when they do release down from the d pad. If my memory serves me correctly, the plane should start rising. If it does not try nudging the up and down on either the d pad or the other control stick. Nice technical talk
And as soon as it comes up in the air start to level the plane out using down on the D pad (so that you can only just not see the red nose).
Turning takes so getting used to so practice makes perfect and landing does not really take much effort, just point the plane at the tarmac and try and get it level.
Hope this helps
Darren

Also, try taking thE plane out of the airfield. I got a flight time of about 20 seconds when I took off from the bridge between Staunton Island and Portland Island.

has any1 ever flown to the island around the back of shoreside vale , its from wheer the opening scene took place , as the developers obviously never took it out, there is the main street with the bank on, you cant land on it as its not solid , just pretty cool to go see, its basically south westish from the airport if your facing towards staunton on the runway

Is called the Ghost town and shows the very beginning scenes of the game when they storm from the bank and he gets shot by his girlfriend.

Did it for about 8000 seconds and then got bored and landed it back at the airport, just point the nose down till sparks start appearing, then tap up and the plane will launch into the air, once you get used to levelling the plane out it's easy. You don't even have to keep the throttle pressed down.
