Any help available please..

Problem....
I open a new or existing spreadsheet, then click mouse while pointer is on any cell in the spreadsheet. After the click, the pointer spreads over cells depending on where pointer moves, just like it would do if I was selecting cells with the left button held down, BUT I'm not holding the button.

I cannot cancel this operation, select any part of the menu or close the spreadsheet. I have to resort to Ctrl+Alt+Del to end Excel.

Is there a short-cut key-stroke that is doing this to me?

Thumbs up

Hit "F8" to switch off extended cell selection.

Thanks Miles, went through that first, didn't work.

However, problem sorted. It was the naughty little mouse driver. Had to delete it and re-boot, twice. Also gave the mouse a good clout around the head to ensure it didn't happen again. It's behaving okay so far.
Cheers
