Question

Longshot I know, but would anyone have any idea where I can get hold of 8, 16 or 24, 256x4 5 volt 20 pin dil(dip?) chips. Have 8 on a memory card in an old HP iiiP printer, and looking to populate the other banks. Existing chips are HY534256S - 80. I have tried searching on the internet, but all I come up with are info sites describing the chips, or a couple of suppliers for trade only or minimum orders of £100.

Thanks

Mark

As you've probably discovered, that chip was made by Hyundai, the semiconductor division of which is now Hynix Semiconductor. Take a look at http://www.hynix.com/eng/index.html and follow links to 'Hynix sales network'. There you'll find a phone number for their office in the UK, who should be able to give you a list of their franchised distributors. In my experience, most will often happily sell you a few chips - a minimum order of £100 is quite unusual.

If all else fails, Farnell p/n 563262 is the HY534256AS70 - not sure what the difference is between the 'S' and 'AS' versions (the Farnell part may not be a direct replacement). There are alternatives from other manufacturers too - check http://www.hypertechnologyinc.com/crossref.html.

It's a very old device, though - the only data sheet I could find was Farnell's. Hynix don't seem to list it any more

Good luck!
Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the cross ref table link.

It gives me a few more options on chips if I can find them.

The only suppliers I could originally find were trade/industry only and only really interested in large bulk orders.

Thanks again

Mark
