XP won't shut down

as above it just hangs on the shutting down screen.

FYI : XP pro, dual boot with W2k
any suggestions?

i knew i should have stw, found this:

"The answer is to disable power management for your USB hub: Open Device Manager(click Start, click Run, type DEVMGMT.MSC, click OK). Double-click to expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Double-click USB Root Hub. Click Power Management. Uncheck the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Hit OK until you're out. (There is more on Microsoft's Web site about this. Look for article Q315664."
