Linking two pc's
#1
Help please guys....
Got 2 computers here;
At the moment one runs MS-XP Home Edition and the other runs MS-XP Pro. Both have modems and both have LAN Cards.
Ideally I would like to link both pc's by way of the LAN so that we can transfer files and play two player games....but how do i do it?
Does one pc need to act as a server type thingy? Don't suppose it is as easy as just sticking a Lan cable between the two is it?
What other hardware/software do I need? Or is it just a case of setting it all up correctly.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Get a cat 5 cross over cable (about 8 quid from PC world)switch both PC's off, plug it in, switch on the one you want to use as the main machine (the one with the net connection)switch on the second machine. When both pc's are up and running, click start in main PC then right click on my net work places, then click on properties. At the top left hand side their is an option called "set up a home or small office network", click this and follow the wizard. easy peasy should take less than 5 minutes
