Erm, no. You just ask everyone else how to do your coursework and leech off your student loan like there is no tomorrow!

I'd have a serious look at putting an ATI Radeon Pro 128mb graphics card in any state-of-the-art "gaming" system and (with one eye on the future) try to include a Serial ATA capable m/board if poss.

Scooby Snax - What most people miss when building / buying a PC is the bus speed. You can have a load of ram, fast chip and quick hdd, but if you have a 100mhz bus, it really isn't going to be all that quick.
Last year I bought an Intel motherboard with a 400mhz bus and with the correct ram and chip it flew. A year on it is still the fastes pc I have ever used. The ram you I used was rimm (capable of 800mhz bus back then).
All other bits are nice and fluffy, but get the essentials and add the rest later if you are on a budget.

I bought the following recently
Asus A7N8x Nforce 2 Board
XP 2700+ 333FSB
2 x 512mb PC3500 Corsair Cas 2 dimms
80GB ATA133 Maxtor HD
DVD
CDRW
ATI 9700pro
Cost about 1K (ish) but you could get away with only 2 x 256MB Dimms
Get near 16000 3dmark with no overclocking. The Nforce 2 onboard sound is brilliant and the 9700pro which caused me chaos in the KT400 board plugged straight in ran like a dream. You can now pick the 9700pro up for about £230 anyone wanna guess how much the GeforceFX is gonna be??
My 2p worth....

When you say ££ not an issue
I was going to build
P4 3.06
2* 512mb DDR400
Granite bay board
and geforce 5.
Thats nearly £1500 worth
Built that then
im waiting for the newer pentiums like i said above. April time. The 533Mhz are going to be replaced with 800mhz bus + all old P4 chips are going to have hyperthreading enabled

Today bought ('cos mobo f'barred )
MSI 845E MAX 2 (MS-6398E) which has all sorts of goodies from ATA133 RAID to BlueTooth capability to 533FSB etc etc for £94+VAT
That'll keep me going for a while
Bung in some PC2700 DDR & a 533FSB P4 and a happy little server for a couple of years
Now all I need is a pair of HDDs to drop in to start the RAID going...
