Question

asus p4tf socket 423 p4 m/board

Been offered one quite cheap.

It has on board sound, but no indication as to how fast a CPU you can put in it.....

Also uses RIMMs - what the hell are these and are they expensive?

Cheers,

Dan

Rimms are ram modules to use with a P4, and yes alot more expensive than PCXXXX ram, but also alot faster.

Thanx BF

I've just looked at the prices

However, what's the board like? Any comments?

I'd be moving up from a ABIT KT7a RAID with Athlon 1.4...... looking to put in a P4 1.8 - 2Ghz ish

Waddya reckon?

Avoid!

A socket 423 is the original "generation" P4.

All current shipping P4s uses a 478 socket. You'll be cripped upto 1.6Ghz (IIRC), no chance of using the newer 533FSB P4s.
