SBS 4.5 (So NT4).

I want to see the license allocations to work out how many are free.

You can't use License Manager as it's disabled in SBS 4.5 - you get pointed to the SBS Console. This tells me there are 25 licenses installed but I couldn't see a way of checking the number free.

Suggestions?

TIA,

Chris.

Chris, there are no limits to the amount of users you can create, but only 50 can log on together....but you know this already
It's been a while since I worked with sbs 4 or 4.5, but you activate licences independantly that install in the registry, then you use the web interface (the 1 that was designed for spastics), then this tells you how many licences you have activated...

Wink

oopps, just re-read your post, surely you just use server mangler & see how many peeps are logged on, ie if 12 are logged on you have 13 licences free if you have bought 25 user licence..
but just disable the licence service & then you can run 50 clients on with a 5 licence pack

I did wonder about killing the Licence Service but wondered if MS had tweaked anything else behind the scenes.

I find that the sbs 4.5 and 2000 licence manager track licences/logons even worse than the standard versions. As long as my clients are covered licence-wise for the users that they have, I always disable it.

Cheers,

Nick
