You need a 10/100baseT network card in each and a cross-over cable. Install the network cards, give each PC its own IP address (eg 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2) with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Then you should be able to ping each PC from the other one.
Share the C drive on each PC, then you should be able to connect to it from the other one, as either \\pcname\c or \\10.0.0.1\c

I assume you have a crossover cable connected between the network cards.
Give each computer a name in the network setting and make sure they are part of the same workgroup.
Assign each computer an IP address (they must be different) i.e 192.168.79.1 and 192.168.79.2
Put each computer in the same subnet i.e 255.255.255.0
Enter default gatewat for each machine (same number) 192.168.79.1
Enable sharing on both machines Right click C: drive and enable sharing.
Reboot.
Start console (DOS prompt) and ping the other machine i.e ping 192.168.79.2 from machine 192.168.79.1. You should get replies
if not try pinging itself and or type ipconfig to see if the ip address has been assigned. If all responds you should be able to map the other machines c:drive.
Hope it helps
