When i connect to the internet the dial up works ok then as soon as its connected - nothing?
i then disconnect and get a message " GBdash has caused an error in <unknown> GBdash will now close "
i click on ok and reconnect and everythings ok, any ideas?
P.S im not computer literate :-) idiots guide please

What is the GBdash you talk of? - if it is some software, try uninstalling it through [start] -> [settings] -> [control panel] -> [add/remove programs]
Need more info really as you have not given anything to go on:
What Operating System?
Which ISP?
What Spec PC?

i am running with windows ME and ntl (not broadband)
the system is a 1600xp, geforce graphic card, 128mb, 52x cd, 56k int modem

As your dial up connection is working I would probably be inclined to leave it and just do the usual scandisk to fix any drive errors
If it gets worse then maybe uninstall your dialup settings and re-add them but don't do that now if your dial up is working fine
