Digital cameras - Minolta F100
#2
Not got the F100 ... but I do have a slightly older Dimage 2300 camera, and it's very reliable and only seems to suffer in poor lighting situations - which I think is either down to user error (me!) or poor flash.
I don't know how easy it is, but I would probably suggest popping into a shop to see if you can demo a camera, Jessops for example.
When I come to replace mine, I will want to try before buying .. so would be interested to hear if you are able to do that kind of thing!
Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the response.
Can you give some examples about what you mean by poor lighting conditions, e.g. how are indoor pictures with the flash, in a pub situation, etc.?
The review I read of the F100 said that it's generally very good other than the poor light situations, but it didn't expand on the subject.
Cheers,
Alex.

Well with my camera, I tend to find that low light scenarios, mainly indoors or late in the evening (dusk). I'll see if I can dig out a couple of examples ... also bear in mind this is not the F100 ... but of course it is still a Minolta.

For example:
and taken at the same location, from almost the same spot:
and compare those two pics to thsi one taken outdoors with the same camera ...
No compaints on the quality side ... just the lighting
One of my mates uses a Canon Ixus V, and while he sometimes has these kinds of issues, they are fewer and further between ... seems to have a much brighter flash, and the ability to adjust light levels properly.
I'm no photographer though - so there may also be a reasonable explanation for all this
