ok guys help me I know nothing.

bought me an x box last night, was expecting a hanover this morn but dont have one so about to unplug it and hook it up to the 5.1 and the 10ft projector

have wireless lan already connected to pcs on normal adsl line, but didnt think you could connect Xbox to net yet. and even then I presumed no compatibility with wireless lan since it didnt have a port or a pcmcia input.

although havent seen one in the flesh yet so no doubt it has one of these.

someone mentioned something about bios, but I have no idea what that does as am a car person not a computer person.

in short, excluding games (gave jsr, sega gt thing and halo thanks to blowdog) what should I buy and more importantly, why?

Oh, okay then . . . .

Xodus/Matrix chip - Allows use of CDRWs/DVD-Rs and NTSC games plus play backups of your original games. Matrix has a flashable bios to allow you to upgrade it when new versions become available. Its solderless too

EvolutionX Utility - This software allows you do do many things, such as upgrade the Hard Disk, run games from your Hard Disk and run DivX/VCD films & MP3s from the HDD too

EvoX2.5 bios - Flash this to your chip for a new Dashboard

120Gb HDD - Save loads of games, films and music to your HDD and run them. Portable entertainment centre No more carry your games/games/films around with you.

Wireless Ethernet Bridge to... - Wireless networking to your broadband.

... 1Mbps Broadband - For real X-Box live power

Mame-X - Run the great Mame software on your X-Box. Emulates loads of the classic arcade games.

Sammyh

Xodus/Matrix or X-Ecuter chips are modchips to enable you to do alot of stuff like play imported games, play DVDs, turn off macrovision, etc. You can also develop and play unsigned (i.e. not Microsoft official) code, so you can write your own software, or even boot Linux off it !! Just check the link for full info.

The 120gb disk is to replace the standard 8 or 10gb internal disk(although i have heard some people say that they have found 40gb disks in their Xboxes). This means that by using the network port on the Xbox you can ftp mp3s, wmas, divx films or anything you want onto the hard disk. You can also copy your games onto it so the disk access time is quicker.

Thats about the size of it.
