firewire to firewire connection?

Question

can i use firewire to connect up two PCs (firewire to firewire)? i need to copy files/data between PCs FAST so was thinking about using firewire, unless there's other alternatives.

p/s cross over cable is too slow!

I believe you can bind an IP stack for a fireware port in W2000 or XP. 400Mbps should be enough

This may help.

Mentions Firewire repeaters, but it's not clear if that's need just to extend the distance or whether it's needed to do the TX/RX crossover.
