How can I easilly extract a MAC address from a NIC, other than using WINMSD? Do the likes of 3com and Intel stamp the MAC address on their cards, bear in mind I'm looking at desktops here and the NIC's are integrated onto the motherboard.

The machines in question are Evo N6xx and evo D510's.

Not sure what opperating system your using but for Win XP Pro goto Network connections> right click on the connection> click on Status> Support> Details and the MAC address is listed as the Phisical address at the top of the list.
Not sure how to get it with other opperating systems but it must be simlar.
Hope this helps

'nbtstat -A (or -a) <ip-address> (or <machinename&gt' will return mac remotely if it's connected, along with machinename and users/services.

But why not pull the data from the routers or switches?
