Is it possible to ftp to NTL Webspace when connected via a different ISP?

Been trying but the connection log goes into a loop of

STATUS:> Resolving host name upload.ntlworld.com...
STATUS:> Host name upload.ntlworld.com resolved: ip = xx.xxx.xxx.xx.
STATUS:> Connecting to ftp server upload.ntlworld.com:21 (ip = xx.xxx.xxx.xx)...
STATUS:> Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...
ERROR:> Control connection closed.
STATUS:> Waiting 30 seconds

Wouldn't surprise me if the answer was no.

You can't get onto the BT Internet FTP server from outside their network either

Freeserve also allow you to FTP only via their dial-up.

I can see the point when the people can sign up for free web-space on a pay-as-you go number - then use another isp and get the webspace for nothing.

It annoys me no end though when you're paying a fixed monthly fee regardless of whether you're using their dial-up or not

So I moved to a decent - get to it from anywhere - hosting service. *cough* Titan *cough*

Very true Deano. Most of my stuff is on my Titan server, just if I'm linking to something on here or another BBS, I'll use my BTi FTP space to avoid any bandwidth charges. Hence be nice to use our uber quick connection at work to throw stuff up.

Me tight? Nah!

Perzactly what I'm trying to do.

Pay NTL fixed rate for broadband, but *cough* doing stuff at work *cough* which I want on my NTL space. Means I have to get it home by whatever means, then FTP it.

Yep I do exactly the same - anything that gets a link on here goes on my freeserve web space - as inconvenient as that is.

Cool

All my stuff's hosted with Titan. I've never used my BT domain space, ever. Luckily though, my Titan bandwidth usage is already high enough where linking to a few images on here would be a drop in the ocean.
