Laptop powers off

My laptop powers itself off from time to time for no apparent reason, even when running mains power. Its a tosh satellite running xp. anyone know of anything i should look at?

Power properties in control panel? The default is to power down after a certain period of inactivity...

Or is this whilst you are using it?
