Windows XP and Java problems
#1
Hi,
Just done a clean install of XP Prof. onto my PC. It is a trial CD that lasts for 180 days that I got a few months ago. Everything appears to be working correctly. Except....when I go to use Yahoo Chat it says that it requires a version of Java Virtual Machine which can only be obtained via Service Pack 1 for XP.
So i go to Microsofts Window's update site and it does the usual and searches to see what I need to update. It doesn't detect that I need SP1 and so i can't download it?!?!?! I haven't got this SP loaded and the demo is too old to have it it pre-installed.
How am i going to get SP1 downloaded if it doesn't even think that i need it?
I am most confused and any help would be greatly received.
Thanks
Marc

thanks but this is the link that takes you to the page that detects if your PC needs SP1 or not. And like i said before it comes back with no recognition that i needs SP1 even though i do.
Thanks

it does not matter what you are using it just lets you download the file directly instead of it telling you ya need it. i just tried it on my xp pro with ie 6 and it downloaded fine
