I've installed Zone alarm on a free 60 day trial.
This is because I'm a frequent user of Kaaza Lite. Many "hackers" are currently able to upload from any folder on my PC rather than just the Shared Folder for which was intended. Having only a 56k connection can slow down my downloading whilst these gits are free to upload from anywhere on my PC plus the security issue is disturbing - a whole folder of music (honest!) disappeared about 2 weeks ago without ME actually deleting it! I think one of the hackers did this?!
Now I have Zone Alarm I want to be able to set this up, or something similar, to stop this continuing. The only difference it has made is that I now seem to get lots of Script error messages appearing whilst visiting different web pages.

Can anyone suggest how I can sort all this out?

Thanks in anticipation

Nick

Two things - stay clear of Kazza - hearing too many horror stories about the security risks involved. To be honest opening up any part of your machine to the Internet is very danagerous. Secondly bin Zonealarm and go for something like Sygate Personal Firewall. I used to use Zonealarm, but I found it was very slow to load and I did encounter a few problems as you described. Sygate is much better (free like Zonealarm) and appears to be a much better written piece of software. The Pro version ($39) has a lot of useful extra features and also does some quite deep file checking and is a lot more intelligent than the free version. If you still want to use Kazza then this maybe an option for you.

Be careful with the Gibson Research site (www.grc.com) as it isn't reliable.....
