Buying Sky+ Today

Time to throw out that knackered VCR and go digital!
Sky have brought the price down to £250 for the Sky+ box. Although pricey, I know it'll be around for years to come, unlike TiVo which is in a bit of a state financially I believe.
Also, like the idea of ditching the VCR and having one remote that will do everything. Don't do a lot of recording either - just last night's footy, or the occasional episode of The Simpsons, Family Guy, League, etc...

er, actually, I got a GameCube on Fri, and my Sky+ today, so I'm getting that way!
...and I'll be chopping the M3 in for something new soon - does that count as a gadget ?

You can record box office movies to the Sky+ box (They stay on for 1 week apparently)
Alternatively if I didn't understand your use of 'tape' - you can archive anything EXCEPT BOX OFFICE to a VCR tape.

That is still one thing extra that analog users have over us digital users If u ask Sky why analog users are allowed to record box office movies to video and digital users cannot, they just say by law youre not allowed to make personal copies. Which is fair enough. But you can still do it on analog! (yes I know digtial is macrovision protected) rant over

STi, check my link for Sky above. If you call Sky direct they tell you the same thing.
I know they do a loyalty scheme for people who've had the full package for more than 12 months (I don't bother with movies, just sport). They do the Sky+ for £199 plus an installation fee to relocate your existing Sky box to another room. I think you have to pay:
1 subscription for the Sky+ (eg. sports/movies/etc)
1 subscription for your old box (eg sports/movies/etc)
1 subscription for Sky+ (£10/month)

I've just had Sky+ fitted under that offer,
£199 for the box and £15 a month for an extra sky subscription and Sky+ fee (basically £5 a month for an extra subscription)
And I have to say that the Sky+ is great, no more hunting for places to record on video tapes, and no more arguing about who watches what. Peace now reigns in our house
