ADSL / W2k pro problems connecting
#1
everything worked fine in 98 firstly
got a new system with w2k pro on it, set it up everything fine network , dial up etc installed my ADSL and it is "pants"
it is an external dlink dsl 200 modem , followed instructions by the book and hardware installs fine , when i try to connect it will not, sometimes it does and loads up homepage 99% fails, must be a networking tcpip issue somewhere, never used w2k before
anybody got some ideas

Win2k is by far the best version of Windows you can get, maybe's with the exception of XP Pro.
You'll just need a little tweaking no doubt.
TCP settings are typically:
IP obtain automatically
DNS obtain automatically
WINS disabled
GATEWAY no entry needed
I'm assuming you're running a single computer, opposed to a bunch of them on a lan.

does your modem plug directly into the wall socket, or does it go through and extension cable? Sometimes this can cause problems with DSL lines as they go out of sync either because of the extra length of the cable or because the cable is poor quality.
